ABOUTTHE ROLE
The Quality Control Assistant provides the Quality Control team with skilled technical support in implementing and maintaining Quality Control measures for precast products. This hands‑on role performs daily QA functions, including pre‑pour and post‑pour inspections, concrete and product testing and equipment calibrations to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements. The QC Assistant documents inspections, identifies and communicates deficiencies, and collaborates with the production and engineering team to maintain consistent product quality.
The QC Assistant ensures inspections are thorough, properly recorded, and organized, while supporting the implementation of corrective actions for identified deficiencies and promoting continuous quality improvement to uphold the company’s standard of excellence.
- Perform pre‑pour and post‑pour inspections for all wetcast and drycast products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, reinforcement, dimensions, accessories, and stenciling.
- Conduct daily concrete quality testing, including SCC tests and other required mix tests, to confirm compliance with specifications.
- Cast, label, manage, and track concrete cylinder samples, ensuring proper curing, storage, and accurate documentation of results.
- Identify, document, and report non‑conformances or product defects, and ensure that appropriate corrective actions are implemented and followed.
- Maintain organized records of inspections and test results, and communicate major and minor quality issues to the Engineer in Training.
- Perform calibration and maintenance of QC and batch plant equipment, including air pots, slump cones, and temperature devices, to ensure accurate measurements.
- Assist with product testing, new mix trials, or prototype inspections as requested, and conduct specialized tests such as vacuum tests, three‑edge‑bearing tests, spark tests, and compression tests when required.
- Support the team with audits and certification efforts by preparing documentation, assisting with inspections, and performing product testing.

Education: High school Diploma
Required
Work Experience:
Experience with lab testing, inspection, and record‑keeping (preferred)
Required Training/Certifications (or must be willing to obtain if awarded this position): ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade 1, ACI Concrete Strength Testing Technician, ACPA Quality School Certification, Forklift operation certificate, Plastic weld certificate, WHMIS.
