Culturally Focused Social Worker Position

Xyólheméylh seeks a Culturally Focused Guardianship Social Worker committed to promoting Indigenous culture in service delivery. This Full-Time role in Abbotsford emphasizes holistic support for Indigenous families and children.

As a Guardianship Social Worker, your primary responsibility will be to protect and empower Indigenous children and youth in care. This position requires developing meaningful relationships while implementing best practices in accordance with BC regulations. You'll work collaboratively with family and community members, including Elders, ensuring the voices of children and families lead service planning and delivery processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support Indigenous children in care as legal Guardian

• Collaborate with communities to enhance cultural connection

• Implement holistic and culturally responsive services

• Facilitate strong relationships with families and caregivers

• Advocate for children's rights to identity and heritage

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field with 3 years experience

• Eligibility for C6 delegation in BC

• Familiarity with Indigenous histories and cultures

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Criminal Records Check required
