Cedar Strong Prevention & Intervention Society provides supportive, client-centred services to individuals and families in Hope and the surrounding communities.

We are seeking compassionate, resourceful, and dependable
Tenant Support Workers
to join the team at our new supportive housing facility.

The Tenant Support Worker provides day-to-day emotional, social, and practical support to tenants who may be experiencing mental-health concerns, substance use, developmental or physical disabilities, homelessness, or other barriers to maintaining stable housing.

Through individualized case planning, advocacy, supportive counselling, life-skills development, and connection to community resources, this position helps tenants work toward greater independence, stability, safety, and community inclusion.

• Participate in individualized case planning with tenants, health-care providers, families, and other members of the support network.
• Interview tenants to identify their goals, strengths, needs, preferences, and appropriate services.
• Gather relevant information from families, care providers, and community agencies with appropriate authorization.
• Develop and maintain behavioural support plans, care plans, progress reports, and other case-management documentation.
• Provide supportive counselling, encouragement, modelling, and practical assistance.
• Support tenants in developing and maintaining life skills, including:
• Personal hygiene and self-care
• Household cleaning and organization
• Meal planning and preparation
• Budgeting and meeting financial obligations
• Making and attending appointments
• Communication and interpersonal skills
• Advocate for tenants in areas such as landlord-tenant concerns, financial assistance, community services, education, employment, recreation, and volunteer opportunities.
• Identify community-based social, economic, recreational, educational, health, and employment resources that meet tenants’ needs.
• Provide tenants with clear information about available programs and assist them in accessing appropriate services.
• Arrange transportation and accompany tenants to appointments, programs, services, and approved community activities when required.
• Observe tenants and recognize changes in their physical, emotional, cognitive, or behavioural well-being.
• Identify and assess potential emergency or crisis situations and implement appropriate short-term response strategies.
• Respond to medical, behavioural, safety, overdose, and other emergency situations in accordance with established procedures.
• Report concerns, incidents, and changes in tenant well-being to the appropriate supervisor.
• Provide feedback regarding tenant needs, progress, participation, and support requirements.
• Assist with medication support and provide medication reminders in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Receive and respond appropriately to tenant questions, concerns, feedback, and complaints.
• Complete accurate and timely care plans, case notes, progress reports, statistics, incident reports, and daily logs.
• Communicate and coordinate with staff, health-care providers, families, community agencies, and other service partners.
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Diploma in Community Social Services or a related human-services field.
• At least one year of recent, related experience.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current First Aid certification.
• Current Food Safe certification.
• Experience supporting individuals affected by homelessness, substance use, mental-health concerns, disabilities, or other complex circumstances is considered an asset.
