Job DescriptionCanyon Ridge Hospital has served the Greater Inland Empire since 1989. The facility is a 157‑bed acute, locked psychiatric facility offering services to adolescents ages 13‑17, adults and older adults. We believe in an individualized, patient‑focused approach to diagnosis and treatment. For some, anxiety or drug dependence looks different while for others the behavioral health and substance use disorders occur simultaneously.
In these cases of dual diagnosis, we treat the patients in the best way possible given their specific needs.
Licensed Psychiatric Technicians (LPTs) are responsible for delivering quality direct patient care under appropriate clinical supervision, to children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics with psychiatric or emotional disorders.
Responsibilities include:
- Serving actively and constructively as a member of the hospital’s multi‑disciplinary treatment team and supporting the hospital’s program philosophy of care.
- Maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment and reporting concerns to the nurse.
- Documentation and facilitation or assistance with groups when necessary, following program specifications and risk management.
- Providing direct care and performing duties in accordance with hospital policies and procedures in collaboration with the nursing services team.
- Current, valid California LVN or PT license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association.
- CPR certification through American Heart Association.
- Written and oral communication skills, legible handwriting.
- Ability to interact effectively with clinical team and other staff.
- Organizational, problem‑solving and time‑management skills.
- Empathy for patients and their families.
- Use of appropriate social skills, including demonstration and respect for staff and patients.
- Basic knowledge of 12‑step treatment program.
- Insight regarding denial and resistance to treatment.
- Flexibility.
- Telephone etiquette and customer service skills for phone and face‑to‑face contacts.
- Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult psychiatric population.
- Thorough familiarity with psychopharmacology and use of psychotropic medications within children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
- Ability to learn and develop required skills within a reasonable timeframe through orientation and training if not initially possessed.
