Automated Dispensing Unit (ADU) Pharmacy Technicians ensure all medication needs and regulatory compliance standards are met for patients, demonstrating ethical conduct and maintaining confidentiality. Success includes managing assigned pharmacy workstations to support prompt, safe and accurate prescription fulfillment, acting as liaison with clients, and identifying customer satisfaction opportunities.
PrimaryJob Duties & Responsibilities
- ADU Support – 70%
- Responsible for ADU operation, appearance/cleanliness, quick reference guide replacement
- Restocking/destocking ADUs with medication at Omni Care serviced facilities
- Completing monthly medication audits of ADUs (inspect and verify med qty, expiration, damage, etc.)
- ADU software and user database maintenance
- Review ADU reports for discrepancies, errors, and dispensing data
- Train facility staff on ADU operation as needed
- Support coordination of new ADU installation; pharmacy and facility readiness including initial ADU inventory, user set-up, etc.
- Responsible for troubleshooting ADU issues with the facility and pharmacy
- Review and complete ADU policies, training and SOPs yearly
- Log deliveries and return accompanying documents as appropriate
- Keep facility ADUs operating at optimal levels by providing product and monitoring inventory
- Maintain and full compliance with all Federal, State and Local laws and regulations
- Maintain highest professional and ethical standards
- Responsible for alerting management for maintenance issues
- Maintain safe operation of Omni Care owned vehicles
- Use mobile phones and applications to navigate route with GPS functions per designated route sequence
- Review and complete Driver Safety policies, training and SOPs yearly
- Pharmacy Technician – 20%
- Partner with function supervisor to coordinate workflow for assigned functions that prepare and process medications
- Follow policy and procedures for non‑sterile/sterile product compounding and assembly of clinical products
- Prepare medications by measure, mix, count out, label and record amounts and dosages of highly regulated medications per prescription orders following Long Term Care Pharmacy policies, regulations, and procedures
- Perform compliance tasks supporting DEA and controlled medication dispensing process
- Fill all narcotic prescriptions for all facilities as directed (inclusive of all controlled STAT labels/prescriptions)
- Assist with workflow coordination
- Ensure and maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Rotate and work within assigned pharmacy workstations to safely and accurately fill patient prescriptions while providing caring service that exceeds customer expectations. Workstations include Packaging, Staging, Returns, Receiving, Cycle Fill, Machine Packaging
- Responsible for preparing the finished prescription and other light warehouse duties
- Receive product deliveries, pull and stage product for distribution, rotate stock, coordinate activities with drivers to ensure shipments accurate and deliveries timely
- Perform physical inventories
- Sort all baskets from PV2 according to facility units, location, and delivery times
- Scan medication pending for delivery
- Prepare manifests and ancillary paperwork to correspond to appropriate nursing facility
- Retrieve medication totes from PV2 pharmacists to be scanned for delivery (STATs included)
- Check bins before delivery departure for missed meds
- During downtime assist pharmacy floor for additional support
- Scan manifests into system for confirmation of delivery
