Introduction

The Department of Health Services (DHS), Northern Wisconsin Center (NWC) is recruiting for a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) in Chippewa Falls, WI. This position will typically work Monday through Friday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, and may require earlier or later hours, and/or weekends based on the needs of the facility.

NWC is a short‑term assessment and treatment facility for individuals who have an intellectual disability as well as a mental illness and aggressive or challenging behaviors. The programming is designed to prepare people to live successfully in a community setting. NWC is one of three centers for individuals with intellectual disabilities managed by the Division of Care and Treatment Services.

Position Summary

As the QIDP, you will be responsible for:

  • Integrating, coordinating, and monitoring each resident’s active treatment program.
  • Providing liaison services between the institution, guardian/family, and community agencies.
  • Providing oversight and coordination of the resident’s support and treatment plans, ensuring that admission objectives are met and that continuous active treatment is provided as required by ICF‑IID regulations.

This position is critical to ensuring that Intensive Treatment Program beds are utilized efficiently by supporting timely admissions and discharges from our program. You must be a Qualified Intellectual Disability Professional (QIDP) as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations.

Salary Information

Starting pay ranges between $32.00 to $36.00 per hour (approximately $66,500 to $74,800 annually), depending on qualifications. A 12‑month probationary period is required. Current or former state employees will be paid according to applicable compensation rules. The position is classified as a Developmental Disabilities Specialist and uses pay schedule and range 11/04.

Job Details

  • All appointees must receive a TB test administered by NWC or approved medical personnel prior to starting.

Qualifications
  • Minimum qualification:

    at least one year of experience working directly with persons with intellectual or other developmental disabilities, and one of the following: doctor of medicine or osteopathy; registered nurse; or a bachelor’s degree in a professional category specified in the Federal Register as meeting QIDP qualifications.
  • Well‑qualified applicants may also have:
    • Experience with individuals having dual diagnoses (intellectual disability and mental health condition).
    • Experience developing comprehensive functional assessments and Individual Program Plans.
    • Experience monitoring and integrating resident programs to ensure continuous active treatment.
    • Experience monitoring all aspects of residents’ Individual Program Plans.
