Design Manager will work more closely with the design teams from pre-construction all the way to practical completion. They will coordinate multidisciplinary teams both internally and externally. The Design Manager will have a design background, knowledge of contractual and building regulation obligations and exceptional coordination skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Produce design management deliverables during bid stage for the bid manager

· Manage the bid process when required and deliver the tender to the agreed timescales

· Manage and set targets for ensuring delivery of design to the agreed timescales

· Ensure that the design is coordinated, buildable, high quality, cost effective and complies with the company’s contractual obligations and procedures

· Assess customer documentation and requirements

· Contribute to development of tender strategy and continuously monitor design and build projects

· Consider opportunity and scope for value engineering where appropriate

· Ensure high standards of health and safety, quality and client satisfaction

· Working closely with site teams across various sites predominately in the South-West, you will be responsible for assessing and advising on risk issues associated with design, buildability and compliance

· Provide technical and design advice and assistance to colleagues

· Appraising Consultants’ appointments including costs

· Auditing and assessing design information before and during construction

· Report on risk to Director's and project teams

· Advising on alternative efficient and compliant design solutions

· Liaising with construction management team, advising and agreeing on programmes for information delivery

· Attending meetings as and when required

· Assist in the implementation of company health and safety procedures

· Providing technical and design advice and assistance to colleagues and group companies

· Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with board members, key personnel/departments and external clients.
