Location: Chorley –
Salary: £38,000-£40,000.
Our client is seeking an experienced Design Estimator with a strong background in the fire & security industry to join a growing team. This role requires a knowledgeable professional who can independently design complete solutions from concept through to quotation, and who is confident in technical design and accurate estimation.
Projects are commercial and industrial, ranging from small to large multi‑site sites, and the successful candidate will design systems to meet client requirements, industry standards and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities- Produce accurate and detailed estimates for fire and security projects.
- Design complete system solutions, including Fire Alarm, CCTV, Access Control, and Intruder Alarm systems.
- Interpret client requirements, drawings, specifications and tender documents.
- Create system designs, schematics, layouts and supporting documentation.
- Prepare technical submissions and cost proposals.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, project managers and engineers.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and regulations.
- Provide technical support throughout the sales and project lifecycle.
- Proven experience as a Design Estimator within the fire & security industry.
- Strong understanding of fire detection, CCTV, access control and intruder systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Ability to design both small and large‑scale systems independently.
- Experience producing technical drawings and system layouts.
- Strong commercial awareness and estimating experience.
Ability to interpret specifications and translate them into practical solutions. - Self‑motivated and capable of managing a workload independently.
- Experience on commercial, industrial, education, healthcare or large multi‑site projects.
- Desirable: experience with Simpro or similar project management software.
- Knowledge of BS5839, NSI, SSAIB and other relevant industry standards.
