Job Title: CNC Miller Programmer

Location: Chorley

Salary: Up to £18.97 per hour

Hours per week: 37 hours

Schedule:
Monday – Thursday: 07:30 – 16:00 (30‑minute lunch)
Friday: 07:30 – 12:30

Overtime: Paid at 1.5× standard rate when available

Our client is a well‑established engineering manufacturer with over 35 years of experience designing and building bespoke machinery for customers across a wide range of industries. Every project is completed in‑house, from design and machining through to fabrication, assembly and testing. Following significant investment in equipment, facilities and future growth plans, the business is looking to strengthen its machining team with the addition of an experienced CNC Programmer & Operator.

• Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines
• Producing high‑quality machined components from engineering drawings
• Selecting suitable tooling, fixtures and machining methods
• Machining fabricated parts and complex components
• Working with a range of materials including stainless steel, aluminium and exotic alloys
• Carrying out in‑process inspections to ensure components meet specification
• Maintaining a safe and organised working environment
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the machining department

• Time‑served machinist with relevant industry experience
• Ability to program CNC machines using HAAS or Heidenhain controls
• Experience using CAD/CAM programming software
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances
• Experience machining fabricated components
• Knowledge of tooling selection, work holding and cutting strategies
• Commitment to quality, safety and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

• Experience using Fusion 360
• Knowledge of CNC turning, laser cutting or waterjet cutting processes
• Basic CAD design experience
• Forklift Truck licence
• Full UK Driving Licence
