This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Mental Health Nurse to join the Chorley Inpatient Mental Health Units at Chorley and South Ribble General Hospital. A passionate, empathic and resilient personality is essential, along with positive and collaborative teamwork skills to maintain a safe and positive culture that promotes patient recovery. The successful applicant will be expected to work a pattern of both days and nights to cover this 24 hours a day 7 days a week service.
Mainduties of the job
You will be a nurse working within a multidisciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of duties. As a Band 5 Nurse within the team you will be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Band 6 Nurse Specialist and you will be encouraged to take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan. You will undertake a period of preceptorship overseen by a named Band 6 Nurse Specialist within your team and engage on the trust's Preceptorship programme.
You will actively promote teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence and compassion within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and Code of Conduct. You are required to maintain links with your professional body and provide evidence for the revalidation process. You will provide nurse leadership within the multidisciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment, formulation, planning and monitoring of care given to service users.
You will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Person Specification Education / Qualifications- Registered Mental Health Nurse Qualification (RNMH & RNLD)
- Ongoing registration with the NMC. Evidence of continued professional development that supports clinical practice.
- Understand and knowledge base of mental health conditions and their treatments.
- Working knowledge of physical health conditions and the complications that can arise in patients experiencing mental ill health.
- Experience working within a multi‑disciplinary team structure.
- Experience assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs.
- Excellent communication, listening, decision making and problem solving skills.
- Developed clinical nursing skills with a clear ability to understand new concepts and ideas in clinical practice.
- Evidence of recent continued professional development within the scope of nursing.
- Ability to manage change and an understanding and awareness of the NHS Plan.
- Understanding of how research and audits affect and benefit nursing practice.
