This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Elective Surgical Hub at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. It is a Band 5, 12‑month fixed‑term position covering a secondment opportunity.
Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a scrub practitioner who has a passion for providing high quality patient‑focused surgical care and a flexible attitude towards work. As a qualified practitioner, you would be expected to contribute to the development of trainee healthcare professionals and support their learning.

As an integral member of the operating theatre team, you would be directly involved in the following specialties:
- Vascular
- Breast
- Robotic procedures
- Urology
- Max Fax
- ENT
Additional duties may include on‑call cover during weekends and evenings depending on future service requirements.
Qualifications & Education- Appropriate NMC/HCPC registration
- RN1, RN2 General Nursing Posts/ODP
- Evidence of continuing education or development for more experienced Band 5 nurses
- Degree
- NMC recognised Mentorship qualification
- Diploma in Nursing
- Awareness of changes within nursing practice
- Knowledge of clinical governance and its relevance to practice
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures
- Knowledge of ethical issues
- Evidence of clinical competence in areas of general surgery
- Knowledge of leadership and management
- Research and development
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. A submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) is required to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Location and CompensationChorley and South Ribble District Hospital
Salary: £32,073 to £39,043 a year, pro rata.
