Rotherwood Cares are currently recruiting experienced Housing Support Workers to join our agency team, supporting a range of supported housing and homelessness services across the Chorley area.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for flexible, ad hoc work while making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults facing multiple and complex challenges.
About the Role
As a Housing Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support to individuals living in supported accommodation or accessing homelessness services. Every shift is different, and you'll play a key role in promoting independence, safety and wellbeing.
You will be supporting individuals with:
- Homelessness and rough sleeping
- Domestic abuse
- Drug and alcohol misuse
- Mental health needs
- Complex and challenging behaviours
- Offending backgrounds and multiple disadvantages
Duties Include
- Providing practical and emotional support to service users
- Completing welfare checks and risk assessments
- Encouraging independent living skills
- Managing challenging behaviour using a calm and professional approach
- Maintaining accurate case notes and incident reports
- Safeguarding vulnerable adults and following safeguarding procedures
- Liaising with external professionals and emergency services where required
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience within homelessness, supported housing or housing support is essential
- Experience supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health and complex behaviours
- Excellent communication and de-escalation skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Flexible availability, including weekends and waking nights where required
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Driving is Essential
Due to the nature of the role and travelling between services, a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.
