Rotherwood Cares are currently recruiting experienced Housing Support Workers to join our agency team, supporting a range of supported housing and homelessness services across the Chorley area.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking for flexible, ad hoc work while making a real difference to the lives of vulnerable adults facing multiple and complex challenges.

About the Role

As a Housing Support Worker, you will provide person-centred support to individuals living in supported accommodation or accessing homelessness services. Every shift is different, and you'll play a key role in promoting independence, safety and wellbeing.

You will be supporting individuals with:

  • Homelessness and rough sleeping
  • Domestic abuse
  • Drug and alcohol misuse
  • Mental health needs
  • Complex and challenging behaviours
  • Offending backgrounds and multiple disadvantages

Duties Include

  • Providing practical and emotional support to service users
  • Completing welfare checks and risk assessments
  • Encouraging independent living skills
  • Managing challenging behaviour using a calm and professional approach
  • Maintaining accurate case notes and incident reports
  • Safeguarding vulnerable adults and following safeguarding procedures
  • Liaising with external professionals and emergency services where required

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience within homelessness, supported housing or housing support is essential
  • Experience supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health and complex behaviours
  • Excellent communication and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and waking nights where required
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Driving is Essential

Due to the nature of the role and travelling between services, a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.
