Position: TEAM SUPPORT ADMIN ASSISTANT I(Clerk To Governors) - Mudeford Infant School

Overview

Mudeford Community Infants School is seeking to appoint a clerk to the governors on a casual basis term time only 38 weeks per year. This is required as soon as possible. If you are good at clerical work, would like to support our school and can take minutes of meetings then we would love to hear from you. This will involve working closely with the Chair to ensure the smooth and effective running of meetings.

Meetings take place in the early evening and the clerk is responsible for convening an average of 11 governing body meetings a year term time only. Administrative duties such as typing up minutes will be carried out more flexibly at home. 3 - 4 hours per meeting can be claimed including agenda setting and minute circulating. Experience in a similar post would be advantageous but training can be given and support will be available via the National Governance Association.

The ability to remain impartial, comply with data protection legislation and maintain confidentiality is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Chair to ensure smooth and effective meetings.
  • Convene an average of 11 governing body meetings a year (term time only).
  • Prepare and circulate minutes, set agendas and circulate minutes (3‑4 hrs per meeting).
  • Perform administrative duties such as typing up minutes flexibly from home.
  • Maintain impartiality, comply with data protection legislation and uphold confidentiality.
Qualifications
  • Strong clerical skills and experience taking minutes.
  • Experience in a similar role is advantageous; training available via the National Governance Association.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Government’s safer recruitment guidelines.
  • Right to work in the UK must be established.

Salary & Benefits

The pro‑rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and includes appropriate paid annual leave and bank holiday entitlements.

The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. It will be paid in equal monthly instalments and adjusted at the start of employment, and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.

Roles is UK based; your right to work must be established as part of the appointment process.

The school will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. A person who will not be on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.
