Job overviewWe’re excited to offer this opportunity within our Admin & Clerical workforce.
To support with clerical and administrative duties in the day to day running of the Macmillan Unit.
To be part of a hardworking and efficient multidisciplinary team, acting as an initial point of contact for patients, families and external teams visiting the ward. Assist in answering telephone calls, liaising with patients and their families, keeping diaries up to date and maintaining up‑to‑date information on Trust systems and problem solving.

Main duties of the jobWelcomepatients andvisitorstotheward,answeringappropriatequestionsandprovidinganyrelevantinformationinasensitivemanner,referringtoqualifiedmembersoftheteamasnecessary.
Undertake clerical and administrative duties on behalf of the ward.
Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesLiaise with individual team members and other departments as required, in a manner that will contribute to the effective and efficient running of the ward.
To ensure that notes are created and ready for planned admissions. You may be required to call and liaise with patients.
To arrange for the repair of faulty ward equipment. To deliver post to patients. Answer the telephone and deal with enquiries in a courteous manner.
To use the computer for inputting and accessing general patient information on Trust computer systems such as ECAMIS, EPR and Health of the Ward.
To assist with other duties that may reasonably be required. To ensure sufficient stock of paperwork and stationery supplies. Organise own workload to ensure that the priorities of the service need are met.
Liaise with agencies external to the ward e.g. other hospital departments, organising various models of transport, GPSurgeries etc.
Communicate appropriately with all visitors to the ward area e.g. relatives, medical and nursing agencies etc.
Communicate appropriately with confused and/or aggressive or wandering patients.
Contact by telephone patients and relatives relating to the imminent admission or discharge from the ward.
To report to the Senior Nurse any complaints, comment or request by patients or visitors.
