As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Estimator Engineer to join our Commercial team and play a key role in securing exciting new aerospace projects.

The Role

As an Estimator Engineer you’ll assess customer enquiries, review engineering drawings and manufacturing requirements, and prepare detailed cost estimates for complex aerospace components and assemblies.

You’ll be involved from the earliest stages of customer enquiries, helping shape manufacturing strategies, identify risks and provide commercially competitive quotations that support the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates and quotations for aerospace components and assemblies.
  • Analyse engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements to determine manufacturing methods and costs.
  • Estimate labour hours, material requirements, tooling costs and subcontract operations.
  • Review Bills of Materials (BOMs), assemblies and manufacturing routes to produce competitive quotations.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, Procurement and Key Account Managers to develop pricing strategies and ensure commercial viability.
  • Identify manufacturing risks, cost‑saving opportunities and process improvements.
  • Support bid submissions, customer enquiries and post‑bid reviews.
  • Maintain estimating databases, historical costing information and pricing tools.
About You

We’re looking for someone who combines a strong engineering background with commercial awareness and enjoys working in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

You’ll ideally have:

  • At least 2 years’ experience in an Estimating, Cost Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering role within aerospace, defence, automotive or precision engineering.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • A good understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal, composites or aerospace assembly.
  • Knowledge of labour costing, material pricing and tooling estimation.
  • Experience using CAD software and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP or Syspro would be advantageous.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related technical discipline (preferred).
  • Excellent analytical, communication and problem‑solving skills with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
