About the Post

We are looking to appoint a Caretaker to join our support staff team at Christchurch Infant School.

We are looking for an outstanding individual who will relish the opportunity to:

  • Keep our school a safe and happy place to work and learn by conducting regular inspections, ensuring we are always compliant and addressing any maintenance needs.
  • Act as a key holder and ensure the premises are locked and secure out of hours if needed on an overtime basis.
  • Act as key contact/liaison point for all maintenance contractors.
  • Carry out a full range of duties across the site, to provide high standards of cleanliness, general security and maintenance of the school premises, ensuring a clean and safe work environment.
  • Undertake a range of handyperson duties (i.e. those not requiring a qualified craftsperson) as directed that contribute to the maintenance of the school premises – e.g. painting/decorating, repairs to fittings and small‑scale improvements, repairs to taps, fitting shelves/notice boards etc.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding and Child Protection policies.

Who We Are Looking For
  • Have experience of general maintenance/plumbing or DIY would be an advantage.
  • Are enthusiastic, efficient, flexible, particularly with regards working hours, friendly and reliable.
  • Have the ability to work on your own and use initiative and also as part of a team.
  • Are willing to participate in training as appropriate.
  • Are able to identify and resolve maintenance issues promptly.
  • Are proactive and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Are able to perform physically demanding tasks and work in various weather conditions.
