Warehouse Team Leader – Stewarts Christchurch

We’re looking for a highly organised Warehouse Team Leader to support the smooth and efficient running of our Christchurch Garden Centre behind the scenes.

About

The Role

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day‑to‑day running of the warehouse/goods‑in operation
  • Lead, motivate, and organise your team to deliver high standards
  • Ensure all deliveries are accurately checked and processed in line with company procedures
  • Maintain excellent stock control, storage, and rotation practices
  • Proactively identify and resolve any operational issues
  • Support stocktakes and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to ensure smooth stock flow
  • Uphold high standards of housekeeping, safety, and organisation
  • Keep warehouse and yard areas clean, organised, and compliant
  • Maintain equipment, fixtures, and warehouse area to a high standard
  • Communicate stock issues, delivery delays, or operational risks promptly
  • Support seasonal changeovers and high‑volume trading periods
  • Monitor and report Health & Safety and security matters
  • Oversee the customer delivery process
Day To Day
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs of your department and storage areas
  • Ensure deliveries are handled efficiently and professionally
  • Ensure timely and accurate supply of stock to shop floor
  • Oversee returns to suppliers and stock movement
  • Ensure all equipment checks are completed and recorded What We're Looking For
    • Previous warehouse or logistics experience, with team leader responsibility
    • Excellent organisation and communication skills
    • Confidence with IT systems and stock processes
    • A strong background in stock control or goods‑in (essential)
    • A good understanding of Health & Safety
    • A hands‑on, can‑do attitude
    • A forklift licence (a bonus, but not essential)
    • Availability to work alternate weekends

    The Practical Details

    Contract Type:
    Permanent – Full time (40 hours per week)

    Location:

    Stewarts Christchurch Garden Centre, Lyndhurst Road, Christchurch, Dorset, BH23 4SA

    Reports to:

    Centre Manager

    Hours:

    8:30am to 5:30pm including alternate weekends

    Please Note:

    This is a physically active role involving regular heavy lifting
