Our team in Industrial Group – Slip Ring and Marine is looking for a Buyer to join them. You will report to the Supply Chain Manager and will have an onsite work schedule in Christiansburg, VA.

You will analyze MRP requirements for site material needs and address exceptions that impact on-time delivery and inventory levels. You will investigate inventory usage, stock levels, and future demand to ensure appropriate materials are purchased. This role requires frequent interaction with suppliers and the Buyer is responsible for maintaining a good working relationship with those suppliers. You will monitor supplier performance and communicate any issues with on-time delivery and quality concerns.

You will investigate additional supply sources to reduce lead times and costs. You will monitor and respond to key performance indicators and trends. You will assist with projects to address inefficiencies or opportunities for improvement in the supply chain. This role requires compliance with Moog planning and purchasing policies and business systems.

To be considered for a Buyer, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:

• Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering or related degree with three (3) years related experience OR associate’s degree in business or engineering with five (5) years related experience
• Attention to detail, ability to handle complex problems, negotiation skills, technical experience and skills related to product and supply chain, and a focus on results and customer satisfaction.
• Working knowledge of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems.

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
• Analytical mindset with an ability to interpret data and report/react to trends

As a Buyer you will:

• Provide delivery information to Master Scheduler as needed/requested.
• Determining Engineering Order change effectiveness and impacts on materials on order and schedules.
• Analyze part requirements, orders, schedules, and expedite assigned items.

• Continuous Improvement with proactive efforts with supply base to improve quality, reduce cost, or improve on-time delivery.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing and terms.
• Review MRP requirements and inventory on hand balances to ensure material availability. You will also use ERP computer system to manage inventory requirements.
• Review and understand blueprints, material specifications and engineering specifications.
• Ensure cost-effectiveness and quality in all purchasing activities.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure inventory meets operational needs.
• Maintain strong supplier relationships and oversee contract management.
