Payroll Administrator – Transdev North America

Chula Vista, CA
The Payroll Administrator reports directly to the Human Resources Manager and manages all payroll operations for approximately 1,000 employees, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and Transdev policies.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all aspects of payroll processing, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, union dues, and other deductions.
- Maintain and update payroll systems (ADP, VDS) with new hires, terminations, pay changes, and other updates.
- Resolve payroll issues promptly and ensure compliance with wage, hour laws and collective bargaining agreements.
- Review and approve timecards, direct deposits, final paychecks, and related payroll transactions.
- Train and support HR payroll backup coverage.
- Maintain accurate payroll records and reports; support internal and external audits.
- Process related accounts payable tasks, including pension, insurance, and union payments.
- Act as the primary contact for payroll inquiries, providing clear and timely communication to employees.
- Identify and recommend improvements to payroll processes and procedures.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required; higher education preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of payroll/administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred) and related software (Excel, VDS).
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification a plus.
- Ability to make timely, independent decisions and resolve payroll issues.
- Self‑leadership and ability to work with minimal instruction.
- Strong communication, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
- be able to work a Sunday shift when needed and be flexible with schedules.
- Position involves long periods of sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
- Competitive compensation: $28.00‑$35.00 per hour.
- Vacation: minimum two (2) weeks.
- Sick days: 5 days.
- Holidays: 12 days (8 standard, 4 floating).
- Standard benefits: 401(k), medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short‑term and voluntary long‑term disability.
