About the Student

The student is a delightful young learner with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who presents with significant communication, interaction and sensory needs. They are currently pre-verbal and communicate using gestures, visual supports and emerging alternative communication methods.

The successful team will prioritise building a trusting relationship before focusing on learning. Sessions should be engaging, child-led and tailored around the student's interests, supporting the development of communication, confidence and emotional regulation.

Knowledge or experience of strategies such as PECS, Makaton, Intensive Interaction, Attention Autism, visual timetables, Now/Next boards and sensory regulation approaches would be highly advantageous.

The Successful Team Will
  • Build a secure, trusting relationship with the student.
  • Deliver engaging, highly personalised learning.
  • Support communication using autism-informed approaches.
  • Promote emotional regulation, confidence and independence.
  • Use visual supports, structured routines and predictable transitions.
  • Work collaboratively with parents and professionals to ensure consistency of approach.
  • Create a nurturing environment where the student feels safe, understood and motivated to learn.

This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to a young child's educational journey. You will play a key role in helping them develop communication, independence and readiness for future learning within a supportive and child-centred environment.

If you are an enthusiastic, patient and experienced professional with a passion for supporting children with additional needs, we would love to hear from you.
