Teaching Assistant, Grade 2 - Walkwood Church of England Middle School

We are looking for a teaching assistant who:

  • Demonstrates the ability to provide efficient and effective support to pupils and staff through a fully inclusive approach
  • Assesses and reports on pupils’ development, progress and attainment
  • Is able to provide effective pastoral care and understanding of all pupils
  • Is proactive, flexible and works effectively as part of a team
  • Has excellent communication skills with pupils and all stakeholders
  • Is a reflective practitioner
  • Has experience of working with pupils with Autism and SEND
  • Has experience working in an Autism Base or would like the opportunity to do so alongside working in mainstream setting
  • Is committed to their own professional development
  • Is committed to promoting our Christian Ethos and values
  • Has GCSE passes in Maths and English (4+)

Previous experience is desirable for this role, although not essential. Experience working with children with autism and other additional needs is desirable or at least a willingness to gain experience, together with GCSE passes in Maths and English (C/4+) or equivalent.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is eligible for an enhanced DBS check including a Children’s Barring List Check. If you are barred from working with children you are breaking the law if you apply for this post.

This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to speak fluent and spoken English is an essential requirement for this role.

Hours: 8:30am - 3:40pm (including 30 minute lunch break) — 33 hours 20 minutes per week, term time only plus 5 Inset days

Grade: Scale 2, SCP 3-4 £ 24,027 - £24,404, Actual Salary - £19,312 - £19,869 p.a.
