Individual Needs Assistant and Midday Supervisory Assistant (Buxted Church of England Primary School)
Hours of work:
Individual Needs Assistant for 10 hours per week plus Midday Supervisory Assistant for 1 hour per week. Working pattern:
Part‑time, Term‑time only – working 39 weeks per year plus 6.05 weeks annual leave (increase after 5 years’ continuous service). As the position is part‑time/term‑time only, the above salary will be pro rata. Fixed term for 7 months.

Buxted Church of England Primary School is looking for an enthusiastic Individual Needs Assistant (INA) to work across our Year Reception and Year 1 Team. We are a thriving rural primary with a committed, friendly staff, motivated happy children and supportive families. Our school is well‑resourced and surrounded by beautiful grounds.
You will work closely with class teachers and teaching assistants, supporting a Year Reception and Year 1 pupil to flourish and develop independent learning skills.
Key responsibilities- Compassionate and caring with a good sense of fun.
- Patient and intuitive – understanding when to encourage pupil independence and when to step in and support learning.
- Able to maintain a consistent calm approach to behaviour management.
- Happy to follow the lead of the teacher but able to recognise the unique needs of each child.
- Happy to work on a 1:1 with the children but also with small groups.
- Able to follow advice from outside agencies and put it into practice in the classroom and in individual sessions.
- Able to engage warmly and confidently with parents.
Experience of working with children with additional needs would be useful, but a willingness to develop your knowledge and enthusiasm to work as part of our team will be viewed very positively.
Working hours:
Monday and Thursday, 9.00 am – 3.00 pm, with the possibility of additional hours on either a Wednesday or Friday on a claims basis.
Individual Needs Assistant is Grade 3, Scale Point 7;
Midday Supervisory Assistant is Grade 2, Scale Point 4.
Applicants will also need to participate in whole‑school activities and to support the daily work and ethos of a Church of England Primary School.
