MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN - SHOP - Cibolo, TX

Summary of PositionPerforms basic repairs on tractors and trailers. Assists the Maintenance Technician II and Maintenance Technician III positions with repairs and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities- MUST FOLLOW ALL SAFETY REGULATIONS AND STANDARDS
- Explain differences in PM schedules
- Explain fluid types and capacities for engines, transmissions, power ends, drive boxes, and small engines
- Identify all greasing points in the PM service for both trailing mounted units and tractors
- Check U‑Joints and determine replacement needs
- Know equipment basics: battery disconnect switches, power‑up/down procedures, and starter start-up
- Engage power take‑off on a tractor correctly
- Understand key hydraulic system points and common failure modes
- Check fluid levels after a PM service, differentiating between run and no‑run states
- Identify all Liberty equipment by name
- Use unit mounted tools in PM procedures (e.g., fuel priming pump)
- Complete all required paperwork accurately
- Read manual gauges correctly and know their purpose
- Use a multimeter to check voltage and resistance in electrical circuits
- Meet other duties as assigned; changes may occur without notice
- 1 year or less at Liberty or comparable industry experience
- Basic understanding of engines, transmissions, and related theories
- Perform PM services with minimal instruction
- Possess a basic tool set
- General knowledge of electrical circuits
- Training must be signed off by appropriate leadership; coworker referral score ≥25/30
- Progression test after 6 months; 90% required to pass
- Guided training for advanced tasks
- Current Liberty employees must have no write‑ups in the past year
- New Hire Origination and PEC Training
- Hydraulic Training Course
- Air Brake Training Course
- Wheel Bearing Training Course
- Training certification and scheduling per company calendar
- 2 days of Cross‑Training in Parts Department within first month, signed off by Maintenance and Parts Managers
- Willingness to learn and retain information
