Principal Engineer - Electrical

Job Summary

We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to provide electrical engineering oversight for our data centre projects in Indonesia. The role will be site‑based, ensuring electrical systems are designed and constructed to K2’s standards. Responsibilities include reviewing consultant designs, monitoring construction quality and HSE compliance, supporting commissioning and handover activities, and collaborating closely with project managers, consultants, and contractors to deliver data centre infrastructure.

• Assist the Project Manager or Delivery Manager in data centre design and construction phases, overseeing site management, construction quality control, and HSE.
• Monitor construction activities regularly to ensure the facility is built to group standards.
• Review and approve design consultant work, ensuring design documents contain all necessary engineering calculations.
• Communicate with design consultants and contractors/vendors to achieve required deliverables.
• Maintain K2 internal engineering standards, focusing on electrical distribution and protection systems.
• Support and manage project commissioning, troubleshooting, and final handover activities.
• Support K2 internal engineering design and development activities.
• Establish engineering and operation procedures following K2 standards.
• Travel between sites as required; position is site‑based.
• Report day‑to‑day basic tasks and align with the Line Manager.

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering & Electronics.
• Chartered Engineer preferred.
• Relevant Uptime or TIA certificates preferred.
• At least 6 years of experience in electrical/power design on substation 20kV/150kV/500kV and construction project delivery (data centre projects preferred).
• Strong knowledge of electrical HV/MV distribution engineering and data centre protection studies.
• Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, or DIgSILENT Power Factory; familiarity with BIM/Revit.
• Proficiency in MS Office and experience with mechanical HVAC software such as IES.
• Familiarity with PLN/local authorities’ procedures, codes and requirements.

• Fluency in Bahasa Indonesia (native or professional proficiency).
• Good command of written and spoken English;
  Chinese fluency is advantageous.
