Description

We are looking for a Collections Specialist to support receivables performance and help strengthen the company's financial position in Cincinnati, Ohio. This role focuses on recovering outstanding balances through thoughtful outreach, sound judgment, and attentive customer interaction. The ideal candidate brings a strong grasp of collections practices, regulatory compliance, and account analysis while balancing results with positive client relationships.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and carry out account-specific recovery strategies for past-due balances based on payment patterns, account status, and customer circumstances.

- Review aging data and receivable trends to identify delinquent accounts that require prompt attention and focused follow-up.

- Work directly with customers to arrange payment solutions, including negotiated settlements and structured repayment terms that align with company standards.

- Research billing issues, respond to account concerns, and resolve disputes efficiently to remove barriers to payment.

- Record all collection outreach, account updates, commitments, and resolutions accurately within the designated collections platform.

- Track delinquency activity and elevate severely overdue or high-risk accounts to leadership when additional action is needed.

- Perform collection activities in accordance with applicable regulations, internal policies, and relevant state requirements.

- Prepare regular reporting on account status, recovery progress, aging trends, and expected payment outcomes for management review.

- Recommend improvements to collection workflows, reporting practices, and follow-up methods to support stronger recovery results.

Requirements

- At least 5 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, credit control, or a closely related function.

- High school diploma required; an associate or bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field is preferred.

- Working knowledge of collection regulations, credit practices, and standards governing debt recovery activities.

- Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively while maintaining strong customer relationships.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret aging reports, payment history, and account-level details.

- Ability to manage a high volume of accounts with organization, discretion, and consistent follow-through.

- Experience using collection software

- History of achieving collection goals or improving recovery performance in a fast-paced environment.
