Summary Of Duties

General Construction Laborers report to the site Superintendent and provide support throughout a construction project which will include general trades responsibilities. The person in this position needs to be flexible as this position may perform various functions throughout a shift. The person in this position will need to be comfortable working in a public setting. Jostin requires all employees to work collaboratively as a team with other Jostin employees and trade partners.

All Levels – General Construction Laborer

Below are requirements for knowledge and skills for this level of General Construction Laborer.

• General contracting
• Power tools
• Safety procedures and best practices on a construction site

• General cleaning
• Material handling – handle materials safely
• Use proper lifting techniques
• Light demolition
• General knowledge of tools and equipment
• Ensure tools and equipment are cleaned, accounted for, and maintained

A General Construction Laborer 2 should be as knowledgeable and meet the requirements of a General Construction Laborer 1, but must also have the skills listed below.

• Assist carpenters with various tasks
• Participate in weekly toolbox talks
• Heavy demolition experience

A General Construction Laborer 3 should be as knowledgeable and meet the requirements of a General Construction Laborer 2 but must also have the additional knowledge and skills listed below.

• Hand float tool

• Prepare equipment for use
• Manage labor crews
• Understanding of budget and productivity requirements
• Receive deliveries
• Ability to conduct trainings and mentor

• Valid driver’s license
• Pass a drug screening
• Work irregular hours including weekends when necessary
• Work in various weather conditions for long periods of time
• Exert physically over long periods of time without winded or out of breath
• Use abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without fatiguing
• Commute within a 125‑mile radius of Cincinnati
• COVID vaccinations may be required on some job sites
