Architectural Technical Leader – Civic & Justice
Join Nelson Worldwide as our Architectural Technical Leader – Civic & Justice
, responsible for delivering high‑quality technical oversight on correctional facilities, detention centers, courthsouses, and other public‑safety and civic buildings.
- Lead and mentor project teams in building technology, documentation, and quality assurance procedures.
- Drive the development and implementation of QA/QC standards and document control processes across the firm.
- Ensure compliance with building codes, ADA, sustainability guidelines (LEED, WELL, Energy Star), and local jurisdictional requirements.
- Review and approve construction documents, specifications, and technical details for quality, constructability, and cost control.
- Collaborate with project leads to manage budgets, schedules, staffing, and risk mitigation.
- Serve as the technical resource for new product and system introductions, building code interpretations, and permitting coordination.
- Provide guidance to clients and internal stakeholders on design, delivery, and contractual matters.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning through workshops, Town Halls, and lunch‑and‑learn sessions.
- Maintain strong client relationships, support business development efforts, and contribute to strategic initiatives.
- Licensed Architect with 20+ years of experience in architecture and technical leadership.
- Proven expertise in building technology, project delivery, and sustainable design.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, zoning, ADA guidelines, and technical regulations.
- Experience with Deltek Vision / Vantagepoint, and proficiency with Newforma, Bluebeam, Revit, Sketch Up, Rhino, Grasshopper, Pro Core, InDesign, Enscape, and CAD.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring teams.
- Self‑motivated, innovative, and able to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Architecture license required in at least one (1) state.
- Minimum of a Bachelor of Architecture from an accredited institution.
- Extensive experience as Technical Director, Account Manager, and Senior Project Manager.
$110,000 – $170,000, contingent upon relevant experience. Bonuses include Long‑Term Incentive Plan, Short‑Term Incentive Plan, and Profit Sharing.
