By joining our team, you will play a pivotal role in our Heart and Vascular Center by providing comprehensive care including medication management, lifestyle modifications, advanced therapies like implantable devices, and coordination with other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes.

Located in the beautiful capital city of West Virginia, the Heart and Vascular Center at Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) is one of the largest and most comprehensive heart programs in the region, offering a full spectrum of cardiac and vascular services. This center is known for its exceptional care and advanced technology, focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of heart and vascular conditions.

Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) was established in 1972 and is a nonprofit, 1,138-bed regional tertiary referral center made up of seven hospitals:
General Hospital, Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Memorial Hospital, Plateau Medical Center, Teays Valley Hospital, Women and Children’s Hospital, and Charleston Surgical Hospital. In addition to the hospitals, CAMC is comprised of the Institute for Academic Medicine and the CAMC Foundation. A Congestive Heart Failure Specialist, often referred to as a Heart Failure Cardiologist or Advanced Heart Failure Specialist, is a medical professional with specialized training in the diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients with congestive heart failure (CHF), providing comprehensive care including medication management, lifestyle modifications, advanced therapies like implantable devices, and coordination with other healthcare providers to optimize patient outcomes.

  • Clinical Evaluation and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, electrocardiograms, echocardiograms, cardiac catheterization, and other diagnostic tests to accurately diagnose and stage heart failure.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs, including medication optimization (diuretics, ACE inhibitors, beta‑blockers, etc.), lifestyle modifications (diet, exercise), and consideration of advanced therapies like ventricular assist devices or heart transplantation.
