Job Overview
Applications are invited for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position in statistics within the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Candidates from all areas of statistics will receive full consideration. The appointment will begin on August 15, 2026. Review of applicants will begin on November 17, 2025.
The standard teaching load for research‑active faculty is six credit hours per semester. New faculty receive a 25% teaching reduction and a reduced service role in each of the first two years.
Essential Functions
- Maintain an active research program in statistics.
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in statistics (e.g., Probability and Statistics, Applied Regression Analysis, Mathematical Statistics, Statistical Computing).
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students.
- Fill service roles for the university and statistics community (peer reviewer for statistics journals, participate in department and college committees, including undergraduate and graduate student advising and exam committees).
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Statistics or a closely related field with a focus on statistics, obtained before the date of appointment.
- Demonstrated excellence in research, teaching, and service, with a record of high‑quality publications and a clearly defined research agenda.
