Job OverviewThe Advising department within the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) invites applications for a hybrid Academic Advisor position. The advisor will support current and prospective engineering students in achieving their academic and career goals. This high‑visibility role requires a strong sense of accountability, discretion, and a commitment to student success.
Essential Functions- Provide academic advising to help students meet educational and career goals.
- Serve as advisor for a designated caseload, building trust and accessibility.
- Monitor student progress and develop graduation plans, using curriculum policy and academic resources.
- Evaluate registration information and maintain advising and enrollment records; facilitate degree audit and certification.
- Refer students to career, counseling, and other academic resources as needed.
- Support students through orientation, exploration, transfer, transition, and graduation processes.
- Recommend actions for academic alerts, probation, suspension, and dismissal; identify opportunities for high‑performing engagement.
- Utilize advising technologies for outreach and record‑keeping.
- Engage in professional development to maintain knowledge of advising practices and student development needs.
- Collaborate with the advising community to advance quality advising practice.
- Attend related meetings and functions; perform related duties as required.
- Bachelor's Degree.
- Zero to one year of student service or related experience.
- Experience related to student support or higher education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, problem‑solve, and work independently.
- Office environment; no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
Competitive salary of $48,000 based on experience.
