Head Carpenter Mentor to be filled immediately. This is a part‑time position with a per‑show stipend paid. 5+ years experience in stage craft or a similar job is required, along with strong experience in an educational setting. The candidate must have a passion for theatre and working with high‑school students.

The role oversees and teaches high‑school theatre students stage‑craft techniques as they build sets for Theatre Xavier Main Stage productions. The candidate should have strong knowledge of technical theatre, stage‑craft techniques, and a strong dedication to safety. Close collaboration with the Technical Director and Co‑Directors of Theatre Xavier is essential.

• Ensures student health and safety are maintained through proper supervision and enforcement of safety rules.
• Monitors student behavior, especially during busy times.
• Provides one‑on‑one instruction to the students.
• Implements safe and effective procedures for using tools, fully training students before usage.
• Keeps the scene shop and stage clean and safe.
• Works cooperatively with the Technical Director and Co‑Directors.
• Checks in with the Technical Director regarding tasks, issues and projects.
• Serves as an initial point of contact, helping students use tools, equipment, and material in the scene shop.
• Assists the Technical Director with execution of set drawings.
• Takes initiative to complete projects and proposes new ideas.
• Promptly informs the Technical Director of any issues that need attention.

• Experience working with adolescents.
