Overview

Parkside Christian Church seeks a passionate and relational Part-Time Student Ministry Associate to lead, disciple, and engage students (middle and high school) in their faith journey. This position is ideal for someone pursuing ministry or currently enrolled in seminary or college with a heart for the next generation and a desire to help students grow in their relationship with Christ.

Lead Minister

Responsibilities
  • Engage Students:
    Build relationships with students through mentoring, discipleship, and presence at events or school functions. Regularly connecting with students in the community and within Parkside with passion and excitement.
  • Lead Programming

    Activities:

    Lead weekly student gatherings, including planning, teaching, and follow-up (e.g., Bible study, youth group nights). Plan and lead, with assistance, events such as retreats, mission projects, camps, and social outings.
  • Oversee and Lead Volunteers:
    Recruit and retain volunteers and plan regular training to equip volunteer teams to assist in various aspects of the student ministry. Provide development, leadership, guidance, and support to volunteers, including setting vision and priorities to build a sense of teamwork among all team members.
  • Child Safety and Protection:
    Implement and enforce child safety and protection policies to ensure a secure environment for all children participating in ministry activities.
  • Communication with Parents/Guardians:
    Regularly communicate with parents or guardians to keep them informed about upcoming events, curriculum, and their child’s progress and involvement in the ministry. Encourage/equip parents to be involved in their child’s spiritual development.
  • Communication with Lead Minister:
    Report to and keep the Lead Minister informed of accomplishments, challenges, and plans. Participate in staff meetings and provide up-to-date information about the ministry. Maintain open communication with all staff.
  • Resource Management:
    Manage the budget and resources allocated to the Student Ministry. Effectively utilize these resources to maximize ministry opportunities.
  • Integration with Church Vision:
    Work collaboratively with other church leaders, staff members, and volunteers to ensure the vision for Student Ministry is aligned with the Parkside Church mission.
  • Partner with the Children’s Minister:
    Work closely with the Children’s Minister to integrate programs and ensure a smooth transition from the Children’s Ministry to Student Ministry.
  • Engage with the Parkside church family:
    Worship regularly and in-person. Engage with Parkside church family.
Position Requirements
  • Education in Theology or Related Field: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Christian education or a related field.
  • Experience in Student Ministry:
    Experience working with 7th-12th grade students is valuable for understanding the challenges and dynamics of ministering to teens and their families.
  • Leadership

    Skills:

    Strong leadership abilities to oversee and manage a team of volunteers and staff involved in Student Ministry.
  • Effective Communication

    Skills:

    Ability to convey Biblical teachings in a relatable and understandable way for teens while engaging with parents and guardians.
  • Passion for Students:
    Genuine love for students and a strong passion for ministry; ability to connect with teens and build positive relationships.
  • Team Player:
    Ability to work collaboratively with church leaders, staff, and volunteers; participate in-person in team meetings and activities.
