ObjectiveProvide direct student support in an educational environment. Support the classroom teacher in establishing an environment that promotes the students' individualized academic and behavioral growth.
Primary Responsibilities- Participate as a member of a treatment team in planning individualized approaches for each child and familiarize self with the student’s case record.
- Complete all assigned paperwork such as strategy sheets, assessments, incident and restraint reports, monthly motivation reviews, and Progress Tracker.
- Support teachers by assisting with noted assessments and contributing to student documentation such as IEPs, Functional Behavior Assessments, and Behavior Plans.
- Complete all pre-evaluation paperwork.
- Write treatment notes following each session to maintain a record of services and to support billing for services delivered.
- Ensure all required documentation is submitted accurately and on a timely basis.
- Record behavior and skill acquisition data to support assessment of intervention effectiveness and progress towards goals.
- Actively participate in daily debriefings and student meetings, and staff or program meetings as scheduled.
- Support teaching staff by working closely with them to promote a safe and professional environment.
- Collaborate with classroom teacher in the development and implementation of daily lesson plan.
- Participate in the development of each student’s individual treatment plan and strategy sheet. Ensure implementation as prescribed by treatment plan and strategy sheet.
- Provide classroom support to students through individualized/small group educational and behavioral assistance. Demonstrate support for students through 1:1 rapport building and TFM interactions throughout the students' school day.
- Support the classroom teacher in the implementation of instructional plans for students.
- Participate in adjusting clients’ behavior plans as needed to maximize progress.
- Use student assessment data and other student resources to support individualized behavior plans.
- Perform all levels of crisis intervention including de-escalation strategies, life space interview, seclusion, and physical restraints in emergency situations only.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).
- Minimum of one-year clinical experience working with children and families.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows and ability to use standard Microsoft Office applications.
Exposed to a combination of office, school, and mental health treatment environments. Exposed to children with behavior problems. May be exposed to shouting and clients who may be verbally and physically aggressive.
Physical DemandsRegularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Capable of sustained exertion and participation in physical restraint techniques and exercises required to ensure safety of clients at all times.
