PT Monitor Mentor – Healthy Branch

This position is available at Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library. The base pay range is $22.00/hr - $31.00/hr.

The Monitor Mentor engages with youth and adults at branch locations to create a safe and enjoyable library environment, emphasizing positive interactions.

• Build rapport and relationships with youth and adults to promote a safe environment and engagement with library resources.
• Assist other staff in supporting positive youth engagement, including executing age-appropriate programming under the direction of a librarian.
• Defuse and mediate confrontations, reduce tensions, and promote peaceful library use through restorative practices.
• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with neighborhood stakeholders, such as law enforcement, school resource departments, and community organizations, sharing information about youth behavior as appropriate with designated partners.
• Support and enforce the Library’s customer policies and procedures, including the Standards of Library Behavior. Alert Public Safety staff and location leadership about concerning behavior.
• Assist library customers with basic information regarding library rules, policies, organization, locations, services, and facilities.
• Support and advance the Library’s mission of connecting people with the world of ideas and information.
• Embrace and embody the Library’s core beliefs, strategic priorities, and pillars of excellence.

• Customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret and enforce patron policies to promote a safe and welcoming environment.
• Ability to work independently and with coworkers in a variety of situations with minimal supervision.
• Ability to use all technology applicable to the essential functions of the job and commonly used by the Library.
• Ability to lift objects less than 25 pounds and carry them short distances (50 feet or less); push carts of library materials up to 150 pounds.
• Ability to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.

• High School diploma or equivalent (required).
• No certifications or licensure required.
• No prior experience required; preferred experience in youth or adult education or social work.
• No prior supervisory experience required.

15 hours per week during after school hours.

$21.53 hourly.
