Job OverviewOn a part-time, limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member’s primary academic functions include teaching language courses in person or online (as needed) in the department of Romance and Arabic Languages and Literatures (RALL). This may include creating curricula or teaching from model curricula provided by the department.
Part-time faculty must have experience and training to provide course instruction in a language course.
Adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system (Canvas); (2) hold regular office hours to meet with students and reply to student communications in a timely manner; (3) and teach to the approved course learning outcomes and course requirements.
Part-time faculty must generally be available to teach in-person. Classes may be offered day or evening. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
Essential Functions- On a part-time basis, teach assigned undergraduate courses.
- Using best practices, continually evaluate student coursework.
- Review and respond in a timely manner to all University-related and student communications.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Master’s degree (or higher) in French, Italian, Spanish, or a closely related field.
At least one (1) year of teaching experience in a college setting.
Required Experience- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to present complex material to students unfamiliar with a subject.
- Ability to work and collaborate with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
- Experience teaching introductory language courses
- Ph.D. or ABD in French, Italian, Spanish, or related areas.
- Part-time faculty must be available to teach in-person.
- Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
