Full-Time, Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5pm

Base Pay Range

$15.00/hr - $17.00/hr

Job Summary

The Assistant Teacher supports the healthy development and school readiness of young children by supervising and actively engaging them in daily early learning activities. This role emphasizes building nurturing relationships with children and forming strong partnerships with families to support each child’s holistic development. Working closely with lead teachers, the Classroom Assistant helps select and implement curriculum aligned with early childhood assessments and promotes a safe, supportive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Responsibilities
  • Administration
    • Maintain accurate attendance records and required documentation.
    • Adjust and document lesson plans to support individual child needs.
    • Share in housekeeping duties and follow up with families as needed.
    • Use classroom materials responsibly to reduce waste and control costs.
  • Direct Service & Program Quality
    • Conduct required developmental assessments (e.g., DECA, Galileo).
    • Actively supervise and engage children to support their holistic development while maintaining required ratios.
    • Implement age-appropriate lesson plans blending child- and teacher-led activities.
    • Model positive behavior and ensure child safety and well-being at all times.
    • Meet all regulatory and quality standards.
    • Support children's social skills and apply trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate practices.
    • Maintain a safe, engaging, and well-organized learning environment.
    • Participate in training, professional development, and continuous improvement efforts.
    • Apply coaching feedback, especially in demonstration classroom settings.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    • Build strong partnerships with families through regular, respectful communication.
    • Communicate effectively with team members and represent the agency professionally.
    • Attend team meetings, events, and required trainings.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to support classroom and program needs.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support classroom success and child development goals.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; CDA or associate’s degree in early childhood education preferred.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development principles and best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with families and staff.
  • CPR/First Aid certified or willingness to obtain.
