- Teach students the medical terminology, clinical skills, and knowledge needed to earn National Health Career Association (NHA) credentials, including Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Technician, Certified Patient Care Technician, and Clinical Medical Assistant.
- Prepare students to earn the State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) certification using Ohio Department of Health (ODH) curricula.
- Manage the full certification process, including tracking, registering, and submitting all documentation students need to earn their credentials on time.
- Provide weekly updates on each credential's Progress Tracker, and make sure students are enrolled in the correct courses and complete Credit Flex Plans to earn available academic credit.
- Keep lab equipment and teaching supplies in good repair, well stocked, and secure, including proper storage of phlebotomy supplies, and report any maintenance, safety, or sanitation issues immediately.
- Create a supportive, engaging learning environment and give students regular, specific feedback on their progress.
- Coordinate with Intervention Specialists to identify students who need learning accommodations and incorporate them into instruction and testing with dignity, respect, and privacy.
- Model and teach the employability and soft skills students need to get and keep a job in healthcare.
- Help secure Workforce Experience (WEX) placements for students and make sure classroom learning supports their work experience.
- Support student recruitment, attendance, and retention in the Healthcare Pathway, and take part in staff meetings, trainings, and the Quarterly Workforce Advisory Committee as needed.
- No restrictions in securing an Ohio Department of Education vocational teacher license or permit.
- Current, valid licensure as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant. Licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is preferred.
- Certification as an NHA Instructor, or willingness to complete the NHA Instructor Application Process. The school covers all associated costs.
- To teach the STNA course, a current, valid Ohio Train-The-Trainer (TTT) license, or eligibility to take the TTT course, which requires at least two years of experience in a long‑term care facility, home health agency, or similar healthcare program. The school covers the cost of the course.
