Science (Chemistry)

Ursuline Academy is seeking a dedicated and engaging educator to serve as a Long-Term Substitute in the Science Department
. This position begins late October/early November 2026 and runs through mid-December 2026 (approximately 4–8 weeks, with exact start and end dates somewhat fluid based on medical scheduling and recovery). The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a rigorous and supportive learning environment that aligns with our commitment to academic excellence and student-centered instruction.

• Instructional Delivery:
  Teach a full course load of Honors Chemistry

• Engaging & Safe Lab Instruction:
  Design and facilitate engaging, hands-on learning experiences that promote scientific inquiry while maintaining department safety protocols, proper chemical handling, and lab prep/cleanup standards.
• Assessment & Grading:
  Provide timely and constructive feedback on student work and maintain accurate records within the school’s grading platform.
• Classroom Environment:
  Foster an inclusive classroom culture that encourages intellectual curiosity and critical thinking.
• Collaboration:
  
  Work closely with the Science Department Lead to ensure curricular alignment and a smooth transition for students.

• A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, or a related science field (Master’s degree in a relevant content area or Education preferred).
• Valid teaching license or substitute certification in the State of Ohio.
• Experience teaching at the secondary level.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborating with faculty and engaging with students.
