Position SummaryThe Energy Auditor I provides expert assessment, installation, and rebate guidance to utility customers. The role emphasizes customer service, energy‑savings recommendations, and fostering client engagement in our energy‑efficiency programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Promote the energy‑efficiency program through scheduled assessments.
- Advise building owners and property managers on program participation.
- Deliver professional and high‑quality services to utility customers.
- Conduct walk‑through assessments identifying natural gas and electric savings across the property.
- Install energy‑saving devices (lighting, thermostats, hot water devices).
- Explain assessment findings and rebate options to building owners.
- Maintain understanding of program strategy and customer business activities.
- Identify on‑site opportunities and follow up with customers.
- Discuss technical elements of energy‑consuming equipment.
- Enter data into spreadsheets and databases, collaborating with engineers as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance as a company representative.
- Build rapport with customers and initiate conversations about facility usage.
- Provide written summary reports to customers and program managers.
- Collaborate as part of a team to improve operations.
- Lead presentations promoting energy‑efficiency programs.
- Perform direct installations of faucet aerators, LED lamps, and other measures.
- Conduct inventory counts and submit reports.
- Ensure warehouse locations and fleet vehicle parking areas are clean and organized.
- Confirm fleet vehicles contain necessary safety equipment.
- Perform vehicle safety inspections and report findings.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience in residential building construction, HVAC installation/sales/service, or energy‑efficiency designations/certificates such as Advanced HEP, Building Analyst, Envelope Professional, Whole‑House Air Leakage Controller Installer, BPI Fundamentals or above.
- 1–2 years of experience in marketing, community organizing, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal, interviewing, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a varied workload in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong data‑entry skills in tracking systems and databases.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, self‑starter with prioritization ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Effective verbal and written communication with customers, clients, and staff.
- Knowledge of mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, and ratios.
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Reliable transportation.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.
- Required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, and handle tools and controls.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Moderate noise level.
- Possible exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and electrical shock.
