The Application Engineer provides pre‑sales technical expertise and quoting support to the sales team, channel partners, and customers. This role ensures the best product fit for each application while balancing cost, performance, and manufacturability. As a key technical liaison, the engineer works closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and customer service to deliver timely and accurate proposals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Review customer specifications, drawings, and requirements to recommend appropriate product solutions.
- Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, and formal quotations.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure proposals are feasible and aligned with internal capabilities.
- Provide technical support to reps, sales, and end customers throughout the sales process.
- Ensure all proposals are accurately documented in the CRM system and aligned with company standards.
- Maintain a high level of product and application knowledge.
- Support continuous improvement by identifying product gaps, market trends, and customer feedback.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of application experience, including selection and costing, preferably in the fan, rotating equipment, or related technical industry.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects with precision and professionalism.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems.
- High moral and ethical standards, demonstrating respect for the individual and team, and setting an example for compliance with laws, regulations, and corporate requirements.
- Strong work ethic and the ability to set and achieve goals.
- Proven ability to quickly assess complex issues and identify root causes and key success factors.
- Decision‑making skills with knowledge of varying decision‑making styles and appropriateness of each, balanced with the necessity to escalate to proper channels.
- Ability to interact with diverse cultures and demonstrate effective communication skills with associates, suppliers, and customers in a variety of business functions.
- Effective in a variety of formal and informal presentation settings; one‑on‑one, small and large groups, inside and outside the organization.
- Computer literate in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience in the air movement industry or a related technical field.
- Experience working in a matrix organization where influence, indirect leadership, and compelling ideas are used to accomplish organizational objectives.
- Background in working with a sales representative network and supporting field sales teams.
