Overview
Senior Mechanical Design IPT – Edison Works Configurations. Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team. Has significant input into priorities.
Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.
- Execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements. This work includes mechanical and/or electrical engineering for all products.
- Develop specialized knowledge in the discipline. Serve as a best practice/quality resource. Maintain awareness of latest technical developments in the area. Contribute to strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within the area of responsibility.
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of best practices and how the area integrates with others; have working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
- Use judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Apply data analysis to support recommendations. Use multiple internal and limited external sources to arrive at decisions.
- Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus. Develop persuasion skills to influence others on topics within the field.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Master's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Established project management skills
