Our client, a leading Architectural/Engineering firm, is seeking a Senior Plumbing Engineer to join their team. This is a key leadership position for a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with deep expertise in plumbing systems design and a passion for mentoring, collaboration, and driving design excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of plumbing systems for diverse building types (educational, commercial, civic) from concept through construction administration.
- Serve as the firm’s subject matter expert in plumbing engineering, ensuring compliance with codes, technical accuracy, constructability, and sustainable design integration.
- Provide strategic oversight and mentorship to plumbing engineering staff, fostering technical growth and professional development.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (architecture, electrical, HVAC, structural) to deliver fully integrated designs.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, and engineering discussions
- Review and stamp engineering drawings and specifications; oversee QA/QC processes for plumbing documentation.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and staffing for plumbing scope to ensure efficiency and adherence to timelines.
- Stay current with industry standards, technologies, and sustainability innovations to guide future practices.
- Contribute to thought leadership through internal initiatives, publications, or speaking engagements.
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Licensure: Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in a U.S. state; ability to obtain reciprocity.
- Experience:
- Proven track record managing projects from schematic design through construction administration.
- Expertise in plumbing system design principles, codes (IPC, UPC, NFPA, ASPE), and best practices.
- Familiarity with sustainable design strategies (LEED, WELL, water conservation).
- Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and calculation tools (e.g., HASS, Pipe Flow Expert).
- Strong project management skills: budgeting, scheduling, quality control.
- Ability to lead and mentor engineering personnel and coordinate across disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable engaging in client meetings and presentations.
