J&J Surgery Cincinnati: Design & Development Co-op, Fall

Overview

Johnson & Johnson is recruiting R&D Design & Development Co‑ops for the Fall 2026 term within our Med Tech sector, located in Cincinnati, OH. The program runs from 8/24/2026 to 12/11/2026 and includes a competitive wage, housing assistance for students living 50+ miles from the site, and a supportive learning environment.

• Use state‑of‑the‑art tools and take advantage of on‑site training courses.
• Perform testing, experimentation, and validation to support product design.
• Contribute to design solution activity using CAD tools, simulation tools, fundamental engineering principles, and mentorship from seasoned team engineers.
• Assist in developing laboratory testing, interpreting data results, and recommending next steps.
• Receive intermediate CAD training (if applicable), including building simulation models, developing kinematic models, and performing stack‑up analysis.

Responsibilities increase with each rotation as you return to school. Rotations typically last 3‑5 months, and availability for multiple rotations is desired.

All co‑ops qualified for housing assistance will receive a one‑time taxable stipend to support living costs during the co‑op term. Transportation is not provided; co‑ops are responsible for securing their own transportation to and from the site daily.

• Be enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field (PhD may be considered).
• Must have completed a minimum of two semesters in school at the beginning of the co‑op (January 2025).
• Must be a student during the co‑op term with a graduation date no earlier than April 2026.
• Have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Be legally authorized to work in the United States for the full duration of the co‑op term.
• Demonstrated leadership or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities.
• Must be available to work full‑time on‑site for the duration of the term; courses must be completed outside of business hours (8 am – 5 pm, Monday‑Friday).
• Previous internship or co‑op experience in the medical device industry is preferred.

• Eligibility to participate in company‑sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with plan terms.
• Sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; 56 hours per calendar year for employees residing in Washington State.
• Eligibility to participate in the company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension).
