Job DescriptionThe Assurance Experienced Senior will coordinate the day‑to‑day “in‑charge” duties of planning, fieldwork, and wrap‑up, including preparing financial statements with disclosures, applying relevant GAAP, and documenting, validating, testing, and assessing control systems. The role also serves as the client contact for basic questions and may be involved in reviews and agreed‑upon procedure engagements.
Responsibilities- Apply knowledge of collective factors affecting control effectiveness and mitigate risks.
- Act as auditor in charge, reporting to the engagement manager, ensuring field work execution, timetable adherence, policy compliance, and budget management.
- Utilize transactional flow knowledge to complete audit work and assess internal controls.
- Document, validate, and assess effectiveness of internal control systems; recommend improvements.
- Supervise audit staff, review work papers, and explain shortcomings.
- Interpret GAAP principles, explain disclosure requirements, identify new pronouncements, and discuss alternative GAAPs when necessary.
- Apply SEC regulations and PCAOB guidelines, review SEC filings, prepare client and audit committee communications, and plan/execute Section 404 internal‑control audits.
- Apply GAAS, formulate and communicate audit plans, use audit skepticism, document deviations, and enhance internal controls.
- Employ BDO audit approaches, technology, and methodologies to deliver quality, efficient, and complete services.
- Research accounting issues, use internal and external resources, and document findings.
- Project‑manage planning, fieldwork, and review timing with the audit team and client; develop budgets and monitor expenditures.
- Supervise a team of 1‑5 audit professionals and provide performance feedback and coaching.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics; CPA certification required.
- Three (3) or more years of audit or public accounting experience; prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Eligible to sit for the CPA exams upon starting employment and actively pursuing completion.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with assurance applications and research tools preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication; people‑development and delegation skills.
- Executive presence and ability to serve as primary client contact.
- Ability to “in‑charge” all audit stages and complete audits of complex companies.
- Ability to prepare and review financial statements with disclosures in accordance with GAAP.
