The Commercial Underwriter III is responsible for evaluating and underwriting complex commercial relationships. This role involves assessing risk, performing financial statement analysis, making strategic decisions, and ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations. The position requires advanced knowledge of underwriting principles and strong decision‑making skills.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities- Perform financial analysis and risk assessment for the Bannockburn commercial credit portfolio, including C&I underwriting and private equity funds, with client credit exposure ranging from $5.0 to $100.0 million.
- Review and analyze commercial loan requests to assess client creditworthiness and structure proposed loans in accordance with the Bank’s lending policy.
- Maintain ongoing communication with all parties on the status of request transactions.
- Spread financial statements using Bank spreading tools for all new and existing clients, and prepare financial spreading, cash flow, and risk rating assessments.
- Prepare credit memos for new and existing client annual review requests, including those presented to the Senior Credit Committee.
- Lead the preparation of periodic portfolio reports that assess ongoing risk through management of the pipeline report.
- Support the client annual review process by managing the existing client annual review pipeline.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration.
- Up to five (5) years of credit underwriting experience.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts and advanced accounting principles, including the ability to spread financial statements.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience with complex and high‑risk accounts and an understanding of intricate business operations and industry‑specific risks.

Required Supervisory ResponsibilitiesProvides guidance and training to junior underwriters, helping to develop their skills and knowledge.
Physical RequirementsProlonged periods of desk work, frequent use of computer, keyboard, phone, and office equipment; occasional light lifting up to 10–15 pounds; ability to move within an office environment.
Compliance StatementResponsible for meeting all compliance requirements imposed by State and Federal law and regulation, including BSA, AML, OFAC and Suspicious Activity reporting, as well as all other lending and deposit compliance requirements.
Pay Range$74,000 per year to $100,000 per year.
