Job Description
Cape Fox is seeking a highly qualified Respiratory Therapy Instructor to support the delivery of advanced aeromedical evacuation training under the supervision of the site director. This role is responsible for developing and delivering didactic, simulation-based, and hands-on instruction aligned with both military and civilian air transport standards. The instructor will ensure student competency in critical areas such as aerospace physiology, emergency airway management, mechanical ventilation in altitude conditions, pulmonary function testing, and cardiac/pulmonary resuscitation during transport.
Utilizing high-fidelity simulation and medical equipment, the candidate will train students in in-flight patient stabilization and evacuation procedures for combat, disaster response, and humanitarian missions. The role also includes supporting student evaluations, participating in curriculum development, and advising leadership on respiratory care best practices. Candidates must hold a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, have at least five years of clinical experience including two years in critical care, and maintain active BLS and ALS certifications.
Military experience, PALS certification, and prior CCATT exposure are highly desirable. This position plays a vital role in maintaining operational readiness and clinical excellence in aeromedical environments. This position is contingent upon contract award.
The salary range (or hiring range) for this exempt position has been established at: $70,000 – $90,000.
The above salary range represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Core Duties:
- Work under the supervision of the site director
- Plan, develop, and deliver didactic, simulation-based, and hands-on lesson plan curricula as required
- Provide high-quality academic and hands-on instruction aligned with military and civilian air transport standards, including patient stabilization, aeromedical evacuation procedures, and in-flight critical care management
- Be assigned to a specific role during the course week, with scripted responsibilities throughout
- Responsible for the development and delivery of respiratory therapy training, ensuring students gain competency in the following areas:
- Aerospace Physiology & Altitude Medicine:
Educating students on barometric pressure changes, hypoxia risks, gas expansion effects, and other physiological challenges in air transport medicine - Emergency Airway Management & Ventilation:
Train students in advanced airway techniques, ventilator management, and adapting mechanical ventilation for altitude changes - Pulmonary Function Testing & Blood Gas Analysis:
Teach students how to interpret arterial blood gas (ABG) results in flight conditions and adjust oxygen therapy accordingly - Aeromedical Equipment and Flight Adaptations:
Demonstrate the setup, calibration, and operation of critical care transport ventilators, monitors, and oxygen systems used in military and civilian transport aircraft - Cardiac & Pulmonary Resuscitation in Transport:
Conduct resuscitation training, including external cardiac compression and emergency intervention during patient transport - Prepare students for rapid patient evacuation scenarios, including adapting care in combat zones, disaster response, or humanitarian missions
- Engage in peer review and professional development by participating in simulated aeromedical evacuation exercises and continuing education programs
- Uphold safety and compliance standards in aeromedical education, ensuring proper handling of medical equipment in flight conditions and adherence to military transport protocols
