Position: Postdoctoral Research Fellow – (Ikegami)Single-cell chromatin biology and genomics - Ikegami Lab

Overview

The Ikegami lab at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is recruiting postdocs to develop a new tool to study chromatin biology at single-cell levels. The lab has an ongoing project to map chromatin proteins in the genome in single cells. Candidates with interest in genomics, chromatin biology, epigenetics, single-cell techniques, or translational research using genomic techniques are encouraged to apply. A prior experience in experimental and computational genomics is a plus, but not required.

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is home to world-class investigators in chromatin biology and genomics. This postdoctoral position offers a highly collaborative environment within and outside the medical center.

Major duties and responsibilities
  • Design, execute, and record laboratory experiments, and analyze the data.
  • Research and improve current methods and evaluate innovative techniques. Implement this knowledge in the Division/Department.
  • Present research at laboratory meetings, journal clubs, seminars, and meetings.
  • Draft, write, and edit scientific reports, papers, journal articles, abstracts, and grants.
  • Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, literature, and seminars.
  • Attend required Cincinnati Children’s training sessions and ensure regulatory compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience

REQUIRED

  • Ph.D. in related discipline, MD, or equivalent required.
Required skills

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, supervisory ability, and an innovative approach to experimental design. Computer literacy with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Ability to analyze data; mathematical ability for algebraic calculations and basic statistics. Ability to synthesize information and adapt to new situations by applying past experiences. Willingness to teach others and share results.

Ability to meet time demands necessary to execute experiments.
