Naph Care is hiring a Paramedic to join our team of medical professionals in the Hamilton County Justice Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. This position will work 3/12‑hour shifts on nights with rotating weekends.
As a Correctional Paramedic
, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide emergency medical care to the incarcerated individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment where security is top priority, you will have a variety of duties to keep you engaged. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.
- Evaluating medical needs, prioritizing medical care by severity, providing urgent care to staff and patients.
- Responding to emergencies, providing rapid assessments, advanced medical care and treatments within the facility.
- Administering medications, performing intubation, inserting IV lines, delivering babies, etc.
- Completing paperwork and documentation related to individual care of patient or staff.
- Communicating and reporting any relevant information to other medical professionals, security staff, and emergency services outside of the facility including EMS/Fire/Police services.
- Paramedics are required to complete training for basic and advanced EMTs and additional studies from an accredited college or university.
- Completion of National Paramedic Certification (NPC) exam and the required state licensing counterparts.
- Must possess an active BLS CPR Certification (American Heart Association preferred).
- Has extensive knowledge of physiology, cardiology, medical procedures, and medication.
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
- Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information.
- Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
