Insurance Collections Specialist at Gastro Health
Gastro Health is seeking a Full‑Time Insurance Collections Specialist to join our team. You will work with our collaborative team of physicians and administrative staff in a consistent, 40‑hour work week that offers a strong work/life balance.

- Serve as liaison among providers, patients, and revenue sources to ensure correct charges and current transaction records
- Maintain active communication with insurance carriers and third‑party providers until accounts are paid
- Negotiate payment of current and past‑due accounts via telephone and written correspondence
- Update patient account information and monitor payer denial trends
- Run monthly aging reports based on dates of service and current accounts receivable to identify follow‑up needs
- Manage daily worklist for assigned insurances
- Utilize collection techniques to resolve accounts per company policies and procedures
- Report coding‑related denials to the Coding Specialist
- Perform related tasks such as faxing, generating retroactive authorization requests, and verifying medical eligibility
- Conduct research to ensure proper reimbursement of claims
- Assist with special projects assigned by the Billing Manager or Supervisor
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- At least 2 years’ experience in insurance collections
- Knowledge of medical terminology used in collections and billing (CPT, ICD‑10, HCPCS)
- Experience with letters of appeal
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office products
- Experience with HMO, PPO, and Medicare insurances
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, and procedures
