UC Health is hiring a full-time Certified Pharmacy Technician in Specialty Pharmacy at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. We are offering a $2,000 sign‑on bonus!
Responsibilities- Procure and distribute medication orders per prescriber request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Fill physician orders, medication kits, medication carts, and stock requisitions accurately; replenish medications in emergency drug containers and floor stock areas; prepare intravenous admixtures and other sterile preparations (including chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition) safely and accurately.
- Deliver medications and supplies to patient care and ancillary areas accurately per established schedule.
- Maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
- Pick up orders, requisitions, and medications for return from patient care areas during delivery rounds; enter medication orders into pharmacy computer system accurately; enter charges and credits for patient medications accurately; generate reports, pick lists, and labels as required.
- Answer the telephone, identify department, and direct calls; answer requests at the window/door and make Stat deliveries when requested.
- Organize and prioritize work assignments; maintain logs, records, and other required documentation accurately; file documentation in appropriate locations.
- Complete and document all assigned medication storage area inspections monthly; identify and replace outdated or unusable medications; collect data, conduct quality monitors, and complete assigned documentation.
- Organize and maintain responsibility for an identified quality improvement project for the department; present annual update for project responsibilities.
- Meet and perform according to hospital and department standards of performance.
- Recently certified, licensed, or graduated within the past 12 months; minimum 3–5 years of equivalent experience.
- Current pharmacy technician registration and certification recognized by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
- Ability to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods.
- Work cooperatively with health‑system and pharmacy staff; handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes.
- Set priorities, solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests.
- Communicate effectively (orally and in writing); assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of the patient populations served.
- Demonstrate a high level of initiative and motivation; competence in a specialized area of the department.
